Professors

Hyun-Yeol, Chung (Professor)

He received the Ph.D degree in the Information Engineering from Tohoku University, Japan in 1990. He is currently a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Yeungnam University, Korea. Both his teaching and research interests include digital signal processing, speech recognition and voice synthesis.

Ho-Youl, Jung (Associate Professor)

He received the Ph.D degree in the Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), Lyon, France, in 1998. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Yeungnam University, Korea. Both his teaching and research interests include digital signal processing, wavelets, watermarking, JPEG/JPEG-2000, QoS(Quality of Service) measurement for transmitted multimedia data, and computer graphics (3-D meshes processing).

Kook-Yeol, Yoo (Assistant Professor)

He received the B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from KNU in 1991, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from KAIST, in 1993 and 1998, respectively. From 1998 to 2001, he was a senior engineer of the samsung electronics, and was engaged in the R&D on video compression and its transmission over mobile network and Internet. He has actively participated in ITU-T VCEG (Video Coding Experts Group; former Q.15) international standardization organization as experts. He joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Yeungnam University in 2001. His research interests are digital image processing, video signal processing, video compression such as MPEG-1, -2, -4 and H.261, H.263, H.26L, and visual communication over mobile network and Internet. He is a member of IEEE, KITE, and KICS.

Ph.D candidates

Ha-Joong, Park

He received the BS degree from the Electronics Engineering at the University of Yeungnam, Korea, in 2000. He received the MS degree from the Information & Communication Engineering at the University of Yeungnam, Korea, in 2002. He is currently working toward the Ph.D degree at the University of Yeungnam, Korea.  His research interests include multimedia signal processing, compression of multimedia data (especially, international standard of JPEG/JPEG-2000), and QoS (Quality of Service) measurement for transmitted multimedia data.

Min-Su, Kim

He received B.S. degree in computer science at Kyongil University, Korea in 2000 and M.S. degree in information & communication engneering at Yeungnam University, Korea. He is currently in Ph.D candidate in both Yeungnam University, Korea and INSA-Lyon, France. His research interests include multimedia signal processing, digital watermarking, DRM, and computer graphics.

Jae-Won, Cho

He received the BS degree and MS degree from the Information and Communication Engineering at the University of Yeungnam, Korea, in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He is currently working toward the cooperative Ph.D degree at the University of Yeungnam, Korea, and the National Institute for Applied Sciences (INSA) of Lyon, France. His research interests include multimedia signal processing, digital watermarking, QoS(Quality of Service) measurement for transmitted multimedia data and compression of  dynamic 3D meshes.

Guang-Hu Shen

He received the B.E, Yanbian University(China), Mathematics Education, 9/1998 – 7/2002 and M.S, Yeungnam University, Department of Information & Communication Engineering, 9/2003 – 7/2005. He is currently PhD Candidate, Yeungnam University, Department of Information & Communication Engineering. His research interests are robust speech recognition in noisy environments.

Xingang Liu

He received the B.S degree in Electronics Engineering from UESTC in 2000, and the M.S. degrees in Information and Communication Engineering from Yeungnam University of South Korea in 2005. From 2000 to 2003, he was an assistant teacher in UESTC. Now, he is working on the PhD in Information and communication Engineering of Yeungnam University in South Korea. His research interests are video compression, video mixing and video transcoding.
